Wednesday and Thursday in Nice

Bonjour from sunny Nice, France.  While many of you are having snow and cold we have spent the last two days shopping and sitting on the beach. This is the life.

Nice is the "nicest" big city we have been to.  It's clean, and classy, and has the Mediterranean Sea at its south.  Our apartment was only 4 blocks from the beach, so it was easy to go down and walk along side when we went anywhere.  Also, along the Promenade de Anglais are beach restaurants, so for the price of a glass of wine you can sit on comfy couches and enjoy the view and sun.  We did just this on Wednesday and Thursday.
You can see the beach is quite rocky

These little "cafes" are all up and down the beach

Jerry keeps telling me to "sip" the wine to make it last longer!
What's the fun in that?

While it is not hot the sun is intense and warm,
as evidenced by my sunburnt face.

Dave and Jerry were determined to "feel" the water but not get in.  First Jerry.

Oops! In Dave goes.  Swimming in the Med

Well we got a good laugh out of that.  I am thinking that I will try to publish the photo since I caught the "right" moment.

After getting back to the apartment on Thursday Jerry and I decided to try Japanese fusion food for dinner.  The Reeds stayed back to pack.  We found a great restaurant near the apartment that was great!
Japanese fusion restaurant.  We had spring rolls
I had duck breast and Jerry had salmon.  Both were very good!

      Of course dessert

We met a mother/daughter couple from Finland.    Their family owns a vineyard Chateau Clarettes near Val(?).  We enjoyed meeting them and visiting in English.
Hannah and Eva.

Dee and Dave are to leave on Friday, flying to Amsterdam, and then onto Minneapolis.  Their flight leaves Nice at an ungodly 6:30 AM, which means they have to leave for the airport at 4:30AM.  Our landlady ordered the taxi on Monday but they were nervous about whether it will come etc.  I am happy to report that it did! And they are on their way home as I type.

We had such fun sharing Italy and a little bit of France with them.  They were great travelers, and I had someone to walk with 20 steps behind Jerry and Dee because apparently all Emlets walk at the same speed and David took pity on me.    We sure had a fun time!
